How to Check and Configure NVIDIA GPUDirect Storage for Your Platform

NVIDIA, Friday, October 30th, 2026

NVIDIA introduces gds-diag, an open-source tool that checks GPUDirect Storage setups, flags problems and suggests fixes.

gds-diag is a command-line utility with subcommands for end-to-end checks, pre-installation validation, post-installation verification, and deep diagnostics for container environments and specific mounts.

Results carry FAIL, WARN, INFO or PASS badges with an explanation and a mitigation plan.

An optional agent skill adds a natural-language interface that orchestrates multi-step diagnostics and proposes remediation when opened in a coding assistant such as Claude or Codex.

Both are in the NVIDIA Magnum IO GitHub repository under open-source licenses and need Linux with Python 3.8 or newer.
