FedEx CISO: Vet AI Agents With Guardrails First

InformationWeek, Friday, October 30th, 2026

FedEx CISO Gene Sun says AI agents must be registered, cleared by security and traceable to humans, even as FedEx expands their use.

Speaking at the ONUG AI Networking Summit, FedEx corporate vice president and CISO Gene Sun said agents introduced into the enterprise must be built on FedEx's own platform and registered, including employee-created ones.

He called observability mandatory, citing reports of agents exploiting loopholes in guardrails, and said every agent action must be traced to a human.

He and Arvind Rajagopalan, VP of data and AI, discussed AI at scale for a company that ships 18 million parcels a day in about 220 countries.

Sun said AI cannot replace planes and trucks but package data can create additional enterprise value.
