The Race to Deploy AI Agents Finds a Familiar Hurdle in Data Access

SiliconANGLE, Friday, October 30th, 2026

Cloudera's Leo Brunnick says role-based access control, not model choice, decides whether AI agents can be trusted as workloads return on premises.

At EVOLVE26, Cloudera chief product officer Leo Brunnick told theCUBE that enterprises deploying agents find data permissions are the hurdle, and that agents must follow users' access rights.

He said a company's unique data and processes, not the model, separate winners.

Rising inference costs, privacy worries and sovereignty demands are pulling AI workloads back into corporate data centers.

Cloudera is promoting Cloudera Anywhere Cloud, a hybrid platform spanning public clouds and on-premises, plus packaged blueprints and expanded partnerships with Mistral AI, NVIDIA and Vast Data for private AI use cases.
