Extending SASE Sovereignty Beyond Data to Management

Fortinet, Thursday, October 29th, 2026

Fortinet says FortiSASE Sovereign now adds on-premises management so organizations can control where and how SASE security is operated.

The post argues that sovereignty goes beyond data residency and has three dimensions: data sovereignty over where traffic, logs and credentials are processed, operational sovereignty over who administers the environment, and technology sovereignty over deploying on-premises, in a private cloud or on sovereign infrastructure.

Cloud-delivered security can spread traffic and policy data across jurisdictions, which is a problem for organizations with strict requirements.

Fortinet introduces on-premises management for FortiSASE Sovereign to address the management layer, not just data location.
