Cohere Advances C$4 Billion AI Commitment in Canada, Creating 1,500+ Jobs

Cohere says its Canadian commitment should create over 1,500 jobs and more than C$4 billion in R&D and AI infrastructure through 2031.
The multi-year effort began in 2024, and at least 1,000 of the roles are expected to be in AI research, engineering, product development and other advanced technical fields.
Cohere says the goal is to turn Canadian AI research and talent into products, businesses and jobs at home, rather than companies and talent going elsewhere to grow.
It expects to keep investing in Canadian talent, research, infrastructure and commercialization, and says the commitment supports the ambitions of Canada's national AI strategy.
