Introducing Time Series Collections for the Next Generation of Amazon OpenSearch Serverless

AWS, Wednesday, October 28th, 2026

Next-generation Amazon OpenSearch Serverless adds time series collections with a lower-cost warm storage tier for logs, metrics and traces.

Time series collections on the next generation of OpenSearch Serverless let customers ingest, store and analyze logs, metrics, traces and event data without managing clusters.

They absorb ingest spikes, keep recent data fast to query, and make long history searchable cheaply.

A new warm storage tier complements hot storage, customers choose how long data stays hot before moving, and each collection supports up to 100 TB of hot storage.

The feature is available in all regions where OpenSearch Serverless is offered.
