Why More AI-Generated Tests Don't Mean Better Testing

DevOps.com, Thursday, October 29th, 2026

George Ukkuru argues QA teams should judge AI-generated tests by an AI Trust Score covering quality and coverage, not by test counts.

In a DevOps.com article, quality engineering consultant George Ukkuru warns that counting AI-generated test cases or time saved hides costly flaws.

He describes a fintech client that generated more than 250 tests in 1.5 hours, then spent a sprint reviewing them and found 30 tested the wrong field and 60 were redundant.

He proposes an AI Trust Score built from four factors: acceptance quality, coverage confidence, low rework and defect discovery value.

Teams should add the score to existing test reviews, set a baseline and track trends each sprint, while keeping human review in place.
