Several AI Security Market Categories Are Headed for Bigger Platforms

Help Net Security, Tuesday, October 27th, 2026

KuppingerCole's Jonathan Care expects many AI security categories to be absorbed into larger platforms as the market consolidates.

In a Help Net Security interview, KuppingerCole analyst Jonathan Care compares AI security startups to the fraud market and expects consolidation around products that decide in real time what an AI agent may do on whose behalf.

He says model scanning, AI bills of materials, most AI security posture management, and standalone prompt-injection detection will likely become features of broader platforms, citing acquisitions by Cisco, 1Password, and Check Point.

He notes funding is concentrating in fewer, larger rounds.

Care recommends baseline controls before agents reach production, including unique agent identities, short-lived scoped credentials, human approval for high-impact actions, full logging, and a tested kill switch.
