Security Leaders Brace For An Overhaul Of Public Key Infrastructure As Quantum Risks Rise

ITPro, Friday, October 30th, 2026

Sectigo research finds 78% of IT and security leaders expect PKI to change as shorter certificate lifespans and quantum risks arrive.

ITPro reports on Sectigo research showing that IT leaders expect public key infrastructure to need significant change to support post-quantum cryptography.

78% of IT and security leaders believe PKI must change as organizations adapt to shorter SSL/TLS certificate lifespans.

83% have budgeted for quantum-readiness over the next year, and 93% of those expect post-quantum investment to grow over two to three years.

Sectigo CTO Nick France said both issues have moved from preparation to active operational priorities.
