Moonshot AI launched Kimi K3.1 Pro, a 3T-parameter-class model it pits against Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra, with open weights due Nov. 4.
Chinese startup Moonshot AI unveiled Kimi K3.1 Pro, its most capable 3-trillion-parameter-class model, built on the Kimi K3 mixture-of-experts design that activates 16 of 896 networks at a time.
It targets agentic workflows, reasoning and coding, offers a 1-million-token context window and accepts text, image and video input.
In company-run tests it scored 65.7% on Terminal-Bench 4.0, just behind Claude Opus 5.5 and ahead of GPT-6 Astra, but it trails in cybersecurity evaluations after Moonshot removed vulnerability-analysis data from training.
The model is available via Kimi apps, Moonshot's API and partners like Vercel AI Gateway, with open weights planned by November 4.
