How Much AI-Generated Code Can Your Senior Engineers Actually Review?

Security Boulevard, Monday, October 12th, 2026

AI coding tools produce code faster than senior engineers can validate it, making review the new delivery bottleneck.

ISHIR argues that tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor and Amazon Q Developer have changed software economics: code can be drafted in minutes, but reviewers still have to understand requirements, check security, evaluate dependencies and confirm architectural fit.

AI lowers the effort to produce code but not the cognitive effort to validate it, so senior engineers become the bottleneck and technical debt can grow faster.

The article urges leaders to measure review capacity rather than output volume, and to adapt review processes, automated checks and team structures so faster pull requests actually lead to better outcomes.
