Cloudflare Unveils Open and Accessible Data Platform for Developers

FutureCIO, Wednesday, October 14th, 2026

Cloudflare Basin is a serverless analytics platform on Apache Iceberg and R2 with no clusters and no data transfer fees.

Cloudflare introduced Cloudflare Basin, a serverless data platform built on Apache Iceberg and Cloudflare R2 for ingesting, storing, cataloguing and querying analytical data with existing tools.

Data stays in the open Iceberg format so any compatible engine can read it without copying or lock-in, Cloudflare's network handles collection and queries with no servers to provision, and there are no data transfer fees across clouds or regions.

CTO Dane Knecht says it brings Cloudflare's serverless model to analytics.

Anomaly, maker of the open source OpenCode coding agent, replaced an AWS S3 and Athena setup with Basin's pipelines, catalogue and SQL.
