Broadcom Adds Hypervisor Protection to VMware

VMware HyperArmor adds virtual patching, executable allowlisting and MFA to ESX hosts to buy time against AI-speed attacks.
At VMware Explore in Frankfurt, Broadcom introduced VMware HyperArmor to protect the ESX hypervisor under VMware Cloud Foundation against stolen root credentials and unpatched vulnerabilities, citing AI-accelerated attacks that outpace patching.
It combines host-level virtual patching that blocks malicious actions without reboots or upgrades, a baseline of permitted processes that runs inventoried scripts and blocks unapproved executables by default, and multifactor authentication for ESX SSH logins.
It needs no agents inside guest VMs and adds minimal overhead.
Broadcom engineer Eric Chien stressed that customers should still patch, since HyperArmor 'basically buys you time.'
