Marvell Unveils Second-Generation Structera X, Industry-First Six-Channel CXL 3.2 Memory Expanders for AI Inference

Marvell's Structera X 3406/3506 CXL 3.2 memory expanders target memory-bound AI inference, sampling in Q1 2027.
Marvell introduced the Structera X 3406 and 3506, second-generation CXL 3.2 memory expansion controllers with six memory channels, aimed at memory-bound AI inference and recommendation workloads.
Marvell claims up to 2x higher queries per second for DLRM and up to 40-50% faster time to first token or up to 2x longer context windows for LLM serving versus the prior generation.
The parts build on the first-generation software stack and ecosystem, with supporting statements from AMD, Arm, Alibaba, Meta, Samsung and SK hynix, and sampling is expected in Q1 2027.
