Scaling AI Puts Enterprise Architecture to the Test

TechTarget, Wednesday, October 7th, 2026

BearingPoint finds 74% of firms see measurable AI impact but only 13% scaled as planned, exposing data, legacy and architecture gaps.

A BearingPoint survey of 1,050 senior leaders found that 74% of organizations with implemented AI report measurable impact, yet only 13% scaled AI fully in line with the business case, with regulation and legacy integration the top barriers.

Omdia's Lian Jye Su says successful projects are narrow and supervised and break at scale on siloed data, legacy IT and OT integration, and governance and cost-control gaps.

CMU SEI's Ipek Ozkaya notes that AI implementations are software implementations that expose technical debt, and Liberty Mutual's use of abstraction layers and APIs is cited as one remedy.
