Cloudflare Introduces CLI for AI Agents, Sunsetting Wrangler

InfoQ, Tuesday, October 6th, 2026

Cloudflare launches cf, an open-source, agent-focused CLI generated from its API schemas, to replace the Wrangler tool.

Cloudflare has released the open beta of cf, a TypeScript command-line interface built for both developers and AI agents.

Generated from Cloudflare's OpenAPI schemas via its Forge pipeline, cf covers more than 3,000 API operations versus roughly 280 in Wrangler, with consistent commands, JSON output, a new cloudflare.config.ts format and Vite as the default dev environment.

Cloudflare said a new tool avoids clashing with LLMs' learned Wrangler habits, though Hacker News users questioned the choice of TypeScript for a CLI.
