MongoDB 9.0: This Is What a Database Should Be

MongoDB, Monday, October 5th, 2026

MongoDB 9.0 brings up to 20% higher transactional throughput, Atlas Gen2 compute and expanded Queryable Encryption.

MongoDB presents version 9.0 as the most advanced release in its history, aimed at removing tradeoffs between performance, security, observability, resilience and AI.

Compared with 8.0 it delivers up to 20% higher transactional throughput, up to 35% faster find-one and 30% faster update-one queries, and nearly 2x throughput for large deployments, while Atlas Gen2 compute arrives for M30+ dedicated clusters on AWS and GCP.

The release also adds prefix, suffix and substring Queryable Encryption, new private networking options, Intelligent Workload Management and improved Enterprise Advanced S3 backups.
