Government cyber leaders at the Billington Summit say AI augments human defenders rather than replacing them.

TechTarget's Richard Livingston reports from a Billington Cybersecurity Summit panel where public-sector cyber leaders from the U.S. and allied nations rejected the AI-versus-humans binary, with Canadian Centre for Cyber Security head Rajiv Gupta saying AI has augmented the centre's experts with 10X to 100X improvements rather than replacing them.

Panelists agreed the low-hanging fruit is automating repetitive workflows and sifting huge data volumes, while the Australian Cyber Security Centre's Stephanie Crowe noted threats now move at new speed and scale.

Human judgment remains essential to guide AI-fueled analysis.
