AMD's 256-Core Monster EPYC CPU Is Its Most Expensive Processor Ever Launched

TechRadar, Thursday, October 1st, 2026

AMD's 600W, 256-core EPYC 9996 'Venice' lists at $14,904, its priciest CPU yet, with 1 GB of L3 cache.

TechRadar reports AMD has published specs and 1,000-unit pricing for all 31 6th Gen EPYC 9006 'Venice' processors, led by the flagship EPYC 9996 with 256 Zen 6c cores and 512 threads, 1,024 MB of L3 cache and a 600W default power rating on the new SP7 socket.

At $14,904, AMD's highest CPU price ever, it costs only $91 more than the 192-core Turin EPYC 9965, working out to about $58 per core versus $77.

The chips support PCIe 6.0 and MRDIMM memory, enterprise technologies unlikely to reach consumers before about 2030, if ever.
