StorageReview's Brian Beeler examines Dell PowerStoreOS 5.0, the software complement to the rebuilt PowerStore Gen 3 hardware with 40 E3.S NVMe bays, a 200GbE RDMA midplane and PCIe Gen 5 designed for a ten-year service life.
Now generally available, 5.0 ships on new Gen 3 systems and can be downloaded to Gen 1 and Gen 2 appliances, which can coexist in one cluster with non-disruptive workload mobility.
Beeler says the release is mostly operational: making mixed fleets behave as one system, squeezing more efficiency from the new hardware and adding sharper performance and security visibility.
