Enterprises Struggle to Prepare for AI and Quantum Threats, PwC Says

SecurityWeek, Thursday, October 1st, 2026

PwC finds leaders feel least prepared for attacks on their own AI systems, and few trust fully autonomous AI defense.

SecurityWeek covers PwC's 2027 Global Digital Trust Insights report, which surveyed nearly 4,000 business and tech leaders in more than 70 countries and found attacks targeting their own AI systems are the threat leaders feel least prepared for, citing autonomous botnets (53%), adversarial attacks (52%) and data poisoning (52%).

AI is seen as the top defense for detection and alerting, but only 22% would allow fully autonomous AI agents to act without human approval, citing reliability and skills gaps.

The article questions whether human-in-the-loop defense can keep pace and also covers quantum readiness.
