The Best AI Data Architecture Fits the Estate You Already Have
Dell, Monday, September 28th, 2026
Dell urges AI data platform buyers to look past converged vendor messaging and pick architectures that fit data where it already lives.
Dell notes that AI data platform vendors such as NetApp, Everpure and VAST now use near-identical language like disaggregated, unified, open and no lock-in, which no longer helps buyers choose.
It argues the real differences are in published documentation and proposes evaluating platforms through five lenses, since enterprise data has gravity across data centers, edge sites, sovereign regions and SaaS and the key question is which architecture fits the existing estate with minimal disruption.
The post critiques approaches that require copying remote data to a central cluster for AI processing.
