Let Skills in Gemini Tackle Your Most Repetitive Tasks
Google, Wednesday, September 30th, 2026
Gemini adds reusable 'skills' invoked with a slash command, replacing Gems and coming to Google Workspace business customers.
Google is rolling out skills in Gemini chat globally, letting users save custom instructions once and reuse them by typing a forward slash and the skill name.
Skills can be combined and paired with reference files for more specific results, and they will replace Gems, with existing Gems data migrating automatically.
The capability is coming to Google Workspace business, enterprise, nonprofit and education customers in the coming weeks.
