An informal survey of 103 developers found a sharp contradiction between adoption and confidence: 87% use or plan to adopt AI coding tools, yet only 31% trust the accuracy of AI-generated output, with just 4% reporting high trust.
Developers largely treat AI as a productivity assistant rather than an autonomous programmer, leaning on it for boilerplate code and documentation while insisting on human review before production.
While 56% say AI has improved their workflow through faster code generation and better debugging, only 13% credit it with improving team collaboration, and favorable sentiment overall has slipped from over 70% to 58% as expectations grow more realistic.
Claude Code led tool satisfaction at 41%, ahead of Cursor at 21% and GitHub Copilot at 10%.
