Sysdig's 2026 Cloud-Native Security and Usage Report finds cloud-native identity management remains one of the most persistently misconfigured and poorly governed areas of security.
Nearly a quarter of organizations now maintain identities across more than one cloud provider, and common problems include overly permissive access, long-unused credentials and missing multifactor authentication.
On average, 67% of user identities across cloud providers are considered risky, even though humans make up less than 3% of all identities, with 97.2% belonging to machines. Sysdig argues AI is both worsening this scale problem and offering a potential path to better govern it.
