Sysdig's 2026 report finds AI use is shifting to owned infrastructure, which is shrinking rather than growing exposure.
Sysdig's 2026 Cloud-Native Security and Usage Report finds AI is moving from experiment to permanent infrastructure, with organizations increasingly building their own AI infrastructure rather than relying on external services. Sysdig analyzed over a million more AI and ML packages than last year, observing six times more ML packages and 40 times more Anthropic-related packages in cloud environments. As organizations shift from "takers" of hosted AI to "shapers" and "makers" building their own pipelines and models, public exposure of AI and ML packages held steady at 1.5%, with just 0.05% of resources publicly exposed. Sysdig frames this consolidation as making AI infrastructure easier to secure despite its rapid growth.
