AlloyDB's new agentic database architecture (preview) gives AI agents real-time, read-only access to production data via isolated instances.
Google announced that AlloyDB now delivers PostgreSQL for agents in preview, provisioning sandboxed database instances in seconds so bursts of agent queries don't overwhelm mission-critical systems.
The architecture scales PostgreSQL to thousands of serverless instances with up-to-the-second, read-only access to production data, while remaining fully separated from the primary, standby, and read-replica instances that serve production workloads.
Instances spin down automatically when agents finish, letting customers run anywhere from a few agents to millions cost-effectively. The instances read from a unified storage layer built on Colossus, Google's exabyte-scale storage system.
