Elastic Cloud on Azure added new compute-optimized hardware profiles built on Microsoft's Cobalt ARM processors.
Elastic's testing found the new CPU Optimized ARM profile, using the Dpldsv6 VM series with NVMe direct-attached storage, delivers up to 44% better price-performance than Fsv2 instances, with consistent gains across Elasticsearch's most CPU-intensive operations like indexing, aggregations, and keyword, vector, semantic, and hybrid search.
Elastic recommends the profile for deployments seeing high CPU utilization during peak windows or running dense vector or hybrid search with heavy reranking, while noting storage- or memory-heavy workloads may also benefit.
