StorageReview examines HPE's Alletra Storage MP X10000 Release 4, which reaches general availability supporting up to 16 nodes and 16 JBOFs in a single cluster, roughly twice the performance and capacity of the prior release and about 23PB raw.
The key architectural change is native-namespace NFS running as a first-class protocol beside object storage, removing the translation layer and the need for a separate file silo.
Release 4 also introduces RDMA for file data transfers and NVIDIA GPUDirect Storage support, so GPU KV cache data moves faster into AI pipelines, along with KMIP external key management and TLS 1.3. HPE extends its 100 percent data availability guarantee to file and object deployments.
