It's FOSS profiles five Linux distros taking different approaches to AI on the desktop, from agent-first Omarchy to local-only Gnoppix.
It's FOSS looks at how Linux distributions are defining an AI-focused desktop in different ways. Omarchy, Arch-based with its own funded foundation, prompts users to pick an AI agent such as Claude Code or Codex at first boot.
Shadowfetch Linux uses Mission Control to require approval of agent work, while Gnoppix AI Linux keeps models air-gapped.
MakuluLinux ships the Electra assistant and deepin integrates UOS AI into search, mail and browser. Ubuntu 26.10 takes a first step with Myna, an on-device dictation tool.
