EE Times reports that software infrastructure, not hardware, is now the key bottleneck for integrating quantum computers with HPC.
EE Times' Pablo Valerio covers a joint Alice & Bob and Hyperion Research report finding that compilers, schedulers and software infrastructure are now the main obstacle to integrating quantum systems with supercomputers.
Alice & Bob's cat qubits resist bit-flip errors far longer than standard qubits and can cut physical qubit requirements by up to 200x.
Integration requires classical resources to act within microsecond windows, and Nvidia's CUDA-Q still needs customization per hardware architecture. With broad commercial use likely years away, HPC centers are urged to invest now in co-design with scientists and hardware specialists.
