Solo.io Pushes Agentic AI Governance to the Desktop With Open-Source agentdesktop

Techstrong.ai, Tuesday, September 8th, 2026

Solo.io's open-source agentdesktop aims to give enterprises visibility and policy control over AI agent tools on employee workstations.

Solo.io announced agentdesktop on September 3, an Apache 2.0 open-source project that extends AI agent governance from cloud and Kubernetes to developer laptops and desktops.

It complements rather than replaces MDM tools, adding inventory of AI tools, agent harnesses and MCP servers, policy management, identity and credential handling, and observability.

It can translate centralized security policies into the native configuration formats of tools like Claude Code and Codex. CEO Idit Levine said laptops and desktops are the first real production environment for AI agents; code was not yet on GitHub at publication.
