Agentic AI and MCP are shifting SaaS from a place where people work to a source of capabilities that AI agents use.
The focus in AI is shifting from generative to agentic AI, where systems take action within business processes. Model Context Protocol (MCP) offers a standardized way for agents to access data and perform actions across an organization's technology estate instead of bespoke integrations.
Greater integration demands stronger governance and guardrails defining what agents can access and do. SaaS will not disappear but will increasingly act as a source of data and capabilities that agents consume via APIs, while human interfaces remain important for visibility, exception handling and control.
