Snowflake Pivots to AI Platforming

Computer Weekly, Monday, September 7th, 2026

At Snowflake Summit 2026, Snowflake outlined a pivot to becoming a trusted, open AI platform built around an agentic control plane.

At Snowflake Summit 2026 in San Francisco, CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy said the company is building an agentic control plane to coordinate AI agents, models, and applications across the enterprise.

Executives stressed openness and choice, using APIs and Anthropic's Model Context Protocol to interoperate with other applications and frontier models, while co-founder Benoit Dageville argued Snowflake was never truly closed.

Snowflake also rebranded its own agents as CoWork (formerly Snowflake Intelligence) and CoCo (formerly Cortex Code). New features include Datastream for real-time ingestion and Horizon Context, a governed semantic foundation for people, tools, and agents.
