AWS announced general availability of Amazon EC2 R9g and R9gd instances powered by AWS Graviton5 processors.
The memory-optimized family delivers up to 25% better compute performance than the previous-generation R8g instances.
AWS positions them for memory-intensive workloads including relational and NoSQL databases, in-memory caches and real-time analytics, with the R9gd variant adding local NVMe storage. The launch continues AWS's custom silicon strategy for general-purpose server workloads.
