Developing Enterprise Frontier Safeguards With Our Customers
Anthropic, Tuesday, September 1st, 2026
Anthropic announces Enterprise Frontier Safeguards, combining zero data retention with misuse detection using customer-controlled cloud storage.
Anthropic announced Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (EFS), which aims to combine the privacy of zero data retention with state-of-the-art misuse detection by storing data in cloud infrastructure the customer controls rather than Anthropic's.
The company argues that detecting sophisticated abuse requires retaining data long enough to correlate behavior across sessions and accounts, which pure zero-retention makes impossible.
EFS was developed with more than 100 customers across financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, telecom, law, retail and the public sector, plus cloud partners. It will roll out in phases starting later in the fall, with support planned for Claude Code, Claude Enterprise, the Claude Platform, Amazon Bedrock, Google's Agent Platform and Microsoft Foundry.
