CIOs Are Still Waiting For AI's Cost Savings

An Infosys survey finds enterprises keep investing in AI despite most struggling to measure or achieve returns.
Paige Gross reports on an Infosys survey of over 1,000 senior executives finding 72% have scaled less than a quarter of their AI pilots, and two-thirds struggle to measure AI's ROI, even as global AI spending is projected to hit $64 billion in 2026, up 63% year over year.
Nearly three-quarters say pressure to show short-term ROI prevents longer-term experimentation, and only about half have balanced KPI frameworks for evaluating AI value. Companies keep investing anyway, betting on compounding competitive advantage over time.
