vSphere 9.1 earns NVIDIA certification with AI workload performance validated at near bare-metal levels.
Broadcom announced that VMware vSphere 9.1, and all future vSphere 9 releases, has achieved NVIDIA certification with AI workload performance validated to operate at near bare metal performance.
The context is the shift toward agentic AI, which has introduced operational, cost and governance challenges beyond those of conventional inference. Unlike user-driven inference that grows roughly linearly, autonomous agents generate non-linear inference demand that can quickly overwhelm IT infrastructure.
Performance therefore becomes a gating factor rather than a tuning concern, and the certification is intended to remove virtualization overhead as a reason to run AI workloads on bare metal.
