Future-Proofing the Internet: Akamai Achieves End-to-End PQC
Akamai Technologies, Wednesday, August 19th, 2026
Akamai made end-to-end post-quantum cryptography generally available across its Enhanced TLS network on August 12, 2026.
Akamai announced that end-to-end post-quantum cryptography became generally available across its Enhanced TLS network as of August 12, 2026.
Coverage now spans every leg of the transport journey: client to edge, across the mid-tier, and on to the customer origin. Within the first two minutes of general availability Akamai observed more than 450 million PQC connections, and one large financial technology customer immediately reached 99.4% quantum resistance.
The driver is the harvest now, decrypt later threat, in which adversaries collect encrypted traffic today intending to decrypt it once cryptographically relevant quantum computers arrive. Akamai positions full-path coverage as the point at which that risk is actually closed.
