Okta published its Enterprise AI Index, analyzing anonymized Single Sign-On data from more than 20,000 organizations between June 2022 and June 2026 across six AI categories.
The report finds a dual-speed market: pure-play AI-native startups have more than quadrupled their customer bases while established AI-enhanced platform vendors keep growing more modestly, with both segments expanding at once rather than one displacing the other.
Okta traces three paradigms: autocomplete from June 2022 with GitHub Copilot, chatbots from ChatGPT's November 2022 launch, and autonomous agents from May 2025. As of June 2026, most enterprises run multiple AI platforms at once, a multi-vendor pattern that accelerated as companies dropped single-platform strategies.
