Japan Government, Industrial Leaders and NVIDIA Launch the World's First National AI Infrastructure

Japan launches a national AI factory built on 13,750 NVIDIA Vera CPUs and 27,500 Rubin GPUs across 140 megawatts.
NVIDIA announced the launch of what it calls the world's first national AI infrastructure, an AI factory in Japan built with 13,750 NVIDIA Vera CPUs and 27,500 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs and backed by 140 megawatts of data center capacity.
Supported by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the facility becomes the computational backbone of the FRONTia Project, which targets multimodal foundation models for physical AI in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and telecommunications.
It will develop open-source models advancing AI agents, digital twins and robotics.
CEO Jensen Huang framed the effort as Japan building the AI factories to power the next industrial revolution. The initiative supports Japan's goal of capturing over 30% of the global AI robotics market by 2040.
